It is everybodys aspiration and desire to maintain a perfect physique and body that is not only hale and healthy but also makes you look slim and beautiful. There are many ways and means available in the market place suggesting you innumerable programs related to diet control and weight loss.

Whatever may be your approach to your desired goal of weight loss, it is but true that everything boils down to one simple fact increase your metabolism or burn out more calories that you produce in the body. Adding ideal foods in our diet that help increase metabolism is one ideal means.

What are the ideal foods that fall in to this category? Among the long list of foods, the following five are found to give results that are more productive.

Water
Fruits and Vegetables
Green tea
Fish and Eggs
Oatmeal

The first in my list of top five foods is Water. You might be surprised to find Water as a top food for increasing metabolism. It is advisable for a person to drink a minimum of eight glasses of water per day. A little more than the standard eight glasses of water will do more wonders to our body. A new research on weight loss has discovered that drinking more quantity of water on a daily basis helps in reducing weight. As it is well known, water acts as an appetite suppressant. Moreover, drinking water helps in reducing or eliminating bloat in the belly and facilitates flushing out of toxins and sodium from the body through urine.

Fruits and vegetables play an important part in increasing metabolism in the body. Most of the fruits and vegetables have rich fiber content. In addition, the calorie content in these fruits and vegetables are relatively less. Another interesting fact, which many people might not be aware, is that they have negative calories. In other words, the calories derived from these fruits and vegetables are less than the calories burnt in the body to get the energy. Spending more calories to get fewer calories in return hence negative calories. Another advantage of fruits and vegetables is that the dietary fiber content in them takes longer time for digestion, burns more calories, and gives a sense of fullness.

Green Tea is one useful means of increasing metabolism. When you drink a cup of green tea, your brain and the nervous system are energized. More calories will be burnt following the spurt in energy from green tea.

Including eggs and good amount of fish in your food will also help in increasing your metabolism. Omega-3 fatty acids and protein present in fish increases the production of digestive supporting enzymes in the body, thus consuming more calories.

Oatmeal is an ideal food that helps in increasing metabolism. Oatmeal reduces the insulin level in the body. Besides, the high fat-soluble fiber content present in oatmeal takes a longer time for digestion in the body. As a result, more energy needs to be consumed in the digestion process of this food.
