Acne is just not a pubescent problem, but it affects people from different ages and different walks of life all over the world. Scientists have put it down to genetics, weather conditions, dirt in the air, eating patterns, high sugar levels, hormones, menstrual cycles and even allergic reactions to other products. Whatever the root of the problem, the problem is still there. It can be just passing acne spots on the face or it could be a serious problem that spreads across major regions on the body. Acne traditionally appears in the upper half of the body, in areas like the upper arms, the back, the neck, and of course the face. It can be a socially debilitating disease and a lot of people who have serious acne problems shun the light of day. Thankfully, there are plenty of acne skin creams available on the market and all you have to do is find the right one for you. What are some of the things to look out for?

Affecting more than 85 of teenagers all over the world, it’s more than likely that the people who read this article are within the age range of 15 21. Most of the creams that are available on the internet are called topical bactericidals. Used for the more easy to solve cases of mild acne, they contain the chemical benzonyl peroxide which acts as an assassin in the anti acne world. It kills the acne and the surrounding roots (called P.acnes) which prevents regrowth. Being a very hardy oxidiser, it is quite effective in reducing acne on parts of the face and neck. Dermatologists often advise anyone who uses creams which contain this chemical to practice moisturizing the skin very often, because it does cause quite a fair bit of redness, itching and drying especially when used frequently. There are also skin creams which act as topical antibiotics, which in essence kill all the bacteria and viruses that are staying in the follicles which are blocked by the acne.

Many people prefer to use the skin cream version of this normally oral treatment, due to stomach aches, yellowed teeth and bad reactions when combined with other over the counter of prescription drugs. If you are looking for more natural solutions and shun the use of chemicals, then there are acne skin creams that contain only the most natural of ingredients. These creams use natural herbs like Aloe Vera, turmeric and even papaya. Some people even swear by skin creams that are based on melaleuca oil which is simple tea tree oil, which has been touted to have the same effects as the topical bactericidals, without the side effects. Vitamin B5, which can be naturally extracted from some fruits, also comes in quite handy in treating mild acne problems.

These are just some of the things anyone should look out for when looking at acne skin care creams. While the urgency of the situation forces us to grab the first thing we see as hope can drive us to make split decisions, don’t be pulled into the hype or promises do some research before you buy one.
