Are you someone asking questions regarding a solution to the question "How do I repair my bad credit?" If so, you are probably looking at a number of seriously negative credit issues that may be undermining you current financial health.
This is certainly not a good situation to be in and that is why it is so helpful to look towards a solution to reverse the problem and actually repair your credit to a reasonable level.
The first step to answer the question "How do I repair my bad credit?" is to call the credit card company and ask if they can remove any negative information from your credit score. Here is a sad fact: they are not under any obligation to do so.
However, if you write them a formal letter explaining the problems that you have had that kept you from making timely payments. Ask if the credit company can remove the negative information from your report. You may be required to pay off any late amounts plus interest and penalties. if can, do so. What if you can't?
Well, you can ask for a payment arrangement that will bring your status to current sooner rather than later. Ask if the late payments can be removed from your credit file upon bringing your account back to current.
Follow up calls to customer service and to higher level management may be required. Again, you may not get positive results from this, but you might also succeed. As the saying goes, you never know unless you try and it is definitely worth trying. Sometimes you will need to take a few extra steps to reverse the problem but it is worth the effort, success or not.
And if you are making late payments, here is the most important advice: stop making late payments. These get you into a lot of trouble and that is why it is so very necessary to do what you can do to avoid any further problems with more negative information getting added to your credit rating. Why add to the problem when you already have a serious one? Make payments on time and you will eliminate scores of problems.
Making more frequent payments is also another means of improving a credit score because it helps keep your balances down. One thing that really dings your credit ratings besides late payments is high balances on credit cards. Avoid maxing out credit cards as much as possible.
If you are getting calls from debt collectors, please be polite with them and seek to make arrangements to pay. You do not want to deal with these people in a negative or combative manner. Yes, you may not have the best opinion of them. Yes, some of them can be obnoxious. But it is best to remain sober and polite with them. There are ways to deal with collectors from a position of strength, but that is subject of another article.
It is also of vital importance to avoid making more and more charges on your credit card(s). This will only lead to further compounded problems as adding more debt onto the amount that already exists. You do not want to do this because it will do little more than add more and more credit issues that will be too difficult to deal with.
